Sometimes, when I am in need of a little “pick me up”, or some encouragement, I go to the words of others. Inspirational quotes are my jam, and I always find them so helpful. Whether they go centuries back, or were spoken by an author or teacher last month, I am often inspired by the words of others.
How about you? Do you find encouragement from quotes?
If so, today’s blog post is for you.
I’m sharing with you 5 of my favorite GIRL POWER quotes. My hope is to inspire you, to empower you to encourage your daughter, or the girls in your life, and to feel empowered yourself to go do great things.
So here they are, in no particular order.
1. SELF CONFIDENCE IS THE BEST OUTFIT- ROCK IT AND OWN IT
Not sure where I first saw this quote, nor do I know who said it (sometimes, that doesn’t matter). But I find this to be true, and so I try and remind myself of this daily. Wear that confidence. Rock it. Be confident in who you are. There is nothing better to wear.
2. MY COACH SAID I RUN LIKE A GIRL. I SAID IF HE RAN A LITTLE FASTER, HE COULD TOO- Mia Hamm
Sometimes it doesn’t matter who spoke the quote, but sometimes it does, and this is definitely one of those time. I love quotes from female athletes, from strong women who are blazing the trail for our girls. Our family loves Mia Hamm for many reasons, but this quote is one of my reasons. Never be ashamed to do anything “like a girl”. Be proud of that label. Be like Mia.
3. DON’T LET ANYONE TREAT YOU LIKE FREE SALSA. YOU ARE GUAC, BABY GIRL. GUAC.
I absolutely love the sentiment behind this quote, and it’s no coincidence that I chose my daughter’s photo to go with it. Sometimes people treat her like she’s “less than”. No way. Not ok. If there is one message I want my daughter to learn, it’s that she’s much more valuable than that. She’s enough. No, she’s better than enough. She’s the best. She’s GUAC.
4. A MOTHER WHO RADIATES SELF-LOVE AND SELF-ACCEPTANCE ACTUALLY VACCINATES HER DAUGHTER AGAINST LOW SELF-ESTEEM. - Naomi Wolf
American author and journalist Naomi Wolf is spot on here. We are our daughters’ example. What we live, they see. So if it’s difficult for you to walk in self-acceptance or self-love, then do it for her. Learn to do it for her. You both are worth it.
5. GIRLS COMPETE, WOMEN EMPOWER
Ladies, does this resonate with you as much as it does me? Does it take you back to the halls of your middle school or your high school? Do you remember how painful it was to be mistreated by mean girls? To endure jealousy or competition during those high school years? Maybe you even experience it still. It’s still out there. Sometimes mean girls stay mean girls. But real women- well we empower each other. Today I encourage you to find those real women and cling to them. Even more so, let’s commit to BEING those real women, those empowering women- for our friends and for our daughters.
That’s it for today. I hope you are inspired by these quotes. Do you have a favorite that I missed? Share it in the comments below! I’d love to be inspired by your quote.

Also, stay tuned because I’m doing something extra special for October, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, and my desire to inspire and empower women and girls all month long. I’ll be sharing a different “Empowerer” each week, a woman who lives to serve other women. I can’t wait to share these awesome women with you!
