Happy New Year!  Don't you just love New Year's Day?  The hope and opportunity that come with a new year, the idea that you can start all over again, make better choices, make a difference.  It's an amazing feeling.

One of my favorite things to do at the start of each year is to choose "My Word For The Year".  I spend some time brainstorming, a few days reflecting and praying, and I start the new year with a word that will be my focus for the year.  I personally also like to attach that word to a Bible verse that I want to be my year's motivation.

Usually my words are verbs.  Maybe I'm just a girl of action.  But I tend to choose words that motivate me to do something, even if that verb is "wait" or "trust" or "forgive".  Sometimes the least "active" verbs are the hardest to apply.

This year I thought it might be fun to have you all do this with me.  Let's all discover our "Word For The Year".  It doesn't take a lot of energy or brain power to find your word, but it does take time and thoughtful consideration.  We're not just looking for a resolution to test out for a few weeks.  We're talking about committing to a word or an idea for the year.  For some, like me, it might take time in prayer.  For others, it might take quiet reflection and journaling.  But it's something we all can do.

And I've even created a fun worksheet for you to help you brainstorm and reflect on your own word!  A few simple but thoughtful steps and you'll have your word for 2016.  Here's what my worksheet looks like.

You can download your own worksheet.  Just click the link above and with a few steps you'll be brainstorming your own word.  And what a fantastic and hopeful feeling to step with purpose and focus into the New Year.  I'm so excited to have my word for 2016, and I can't wait to see where The Lord leads me as I look to serve Him and serve others.  Starting with you!

What will your word for 2016 be?  Discover your word and then share it with us here!  Let's take 2016 with intention and joy!
