Meet Courtney!  This lovely lady is another rising senior at Fountain Valley School, and another young lady I have had the joy of teaching this year.  Courtney and I had a blast shooting her spring portraits right on the campus at FVS, along the front prairie.

I asked Courtney to share a little bit about herself today, as it's always so much more fun to hear the voice behind the beautiful face.

Here's Courtney!

WHAT I LOVE TO DO IN MY FREE TIME IS….

What I love to do in my free time is to read (mostly plays),  run and hike, and cook and bake.  I have always loved to read, but ever since I started being a part of the theatre I love reading plays.  I currently have a stack of plays on my bedside table waiting to be read.  I like to run because I can be in my own space.  I'm not particularly amazing at running, but I use it as a chance to get away from everyone else.  I like to hike not so much because I enjoy the actual act of hiking but because there are so many pretty things to be seen while hiking.  I love food.  I'd say I enjoy baking more than cooking because I definitely have a sweet tooth but either way I find being in the kitchen very relaxing.

THREE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE ME ARE...

These are always hard.  Whether it's yourself or someone else, three words aren't easy to come up with.  I'll say adventurous, happy, and curious.

IF I COULD MOVE ANYWHERE, I WOULD MOVE TO...

...well I don't know.  I really love to explore and see new places.  I've never left the country, but I would really like to because I find humans and how we interact really interesting.

WHAT EXCITES ME MOST ABOUT BEING A HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR IS...

What excites me most about being a high school senior is that I am really excited about every class I'm taking, and it's a chance to lead the school.

WHAT MAKES ME MOST NERVOUS ABOUT BEING A HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR IS...

What makes me most nervous about being a high school senior is that I think there's a lot of pressure to finish strong and find a college where I will be happy.

MY FRIENDS WOULD DEFINITELY SAY THAT I AM...

... honest.  I don't think lying is worth it and I don't sugar coat things.  I feel like lying makes things even worse.

SOMETHING A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME IS THAT ...

I'll try just about anything once.  In general I'm pretty fearless and love the feeling of my stomach dropping.  Whether it's weird food or a cool not obviously stupid adventure I will happily try it.

WHEN I FINISH SCHOOL, I MIGHT WANT TO BECOME...

ahhhh! This one scares me!  There are so many choices that it is hard to know.  Like I said earlier I think people are really interesting and I like to travel so maybe if there is a career in those.  I also find politics really interesting and might get a law degree and move my way into that.

THE HARDEST THING I'VE EVER HAD TO DO WAS...

The hardest thing I've ever had to do was experience someone close to me dying.  My cousin Connor was 21 years old and went to Penn State.  He was the goalie for the Penn State lacrosse team and a larger than life person.  On June 12th of last year Connor died in a car accident in Boston at 2am.  This was the day after I got to Michigan, where I spend my summers, and it was just my grandma, my younger cousin, Charlie, and me.  I ended up in a position where I was grieving, but other people needed me.  Whether it was getting flights for my grandma and cousin to Boston, or holding up my cousin who lost his brother when he was crying so hard he couldn't stand, I was trying to take care of everyone all summer.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT BEING ME IS...

What I love most about being me is just about everything.  I have an amazing family and life.  I love my animals (a dog Cady and a rabbit Avery), my parents do their best to support my need to explore and ask questions, and I find that I love most things I try.

I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek into the world of this lovely young lady.  Courtney, I had so much fun with this photo shoot!

Stay tuned for more JLP Rep features, including India from Fountain Valley School, and Hannah from Mesa Ridge High School.  I can't wait to share these fantastic ladies with you!
